Highlighted family and newborn photography sessions

Have you ever had a photo session that lit you up — where something clicked and you thought, this is the kind of work I want to make more of… but then you got home and thought, okay but… how?

Maybe you’re stuck doing holiday minis for a super low price, or maybe your clients are happy and your calendar is full — but you feel like you’re on autopilot and dying a little bit inside. You love what you do, but something feels off. Whatever it is that has you feeling like you’ve hit a plateau and aren’t really sure how to get off of it – you may be ready for a mastermind.

The Photo Fuel Retreat + Mastermind is a four-month experience designed to help family photographers reignite their creativity, strengthen their business, discover their unique vision, and refine their work into something that feels totally aligned.

Why a Mastermind (and Not Just Another Course)?

Courses are great — until they aren’t.
They can teach you big-picture ideas and technical skills, but when you’ve hit a plateau, what you really need is people.

You need conversation. Real-time feedback.
You need to talk through what’s working and what’s not, and then actually practice it — with others who understand the nuance of your experience.

That’s one of the most beautiful pieces of what a mastermind for family photographers offers: collaboration, accountability, and fresh perspective. It’s where understanding happens — not by memorizing poses or strategies, but by rewiring the brain for confident creativity.

The Power of Doing (Not Just Injesting)

The very best way to grow as an artist and business owner is by doing. The retreat creates a safe space – without client money and expectations on the line – to practice skills and experiment with pushing your own boundaries. Through verbal and hands-on processing, you stop second-guessing your instincts and start trusting your creative eye again. You begin to notice opportunity — the light shifting in a room, a child’s movement, the in-between moments that make your work come alive — and learn what to do with it.

That kind of creative confidence doesn’t come from a course you take alone at your desk. It comes from guided, intentional, and supported experience.

Who It’s For

This experience is designed for family photographers who:

  • Have been shooting for at least a year or two; we’re not covering camera basics or shooting foundations, though photographers of varying skill levels are welcome and will surely be an asset to one other!
  • Feel like something’s missing in their work or business
  • Want to create images that feel more candid, connected, and timeless
  • Crave feedback and community through the “off-season” and beyond
  • Are ready to refine their art and strategy for the next season of growth

If you’re ready to stretch, grow, and reignite your creative spark, this is your space.

Is It Worth It? Common Questions Answered

“Is it worth the investment?”
If you’re ready to move from information to transformation, then the short answer is yes. This is about more than learning — it’s about rewiring how you approach your craft and business. (More on this in the episode)

“How is it different from other retreats?”
It’s intimate — just five photographers.

It’s not “luxury” but it is deep, connected, and genuine. We’ll work with real families, have deep coaching conversations, and focus on real results. We’ll also journal, share meals, and poke around a small VA town together. This isn’t a vacation; we will work hard. But we’ll be doing it together and I promise you will leave refreshed and creatively on fire.

“What’s the vibe?”
Think coffee on the porch, laughter in the kitchen, and honest, heart-centered conversations within a small, trusted group of peers. We’re going to also pack in a lot of shooting, a lot of work talk, and a whole lot of dreaming.

Why I Believe in This

I’ve been in photography for over a decade, and the biggest leaps in my growth came from spaces like this and working in person with mentors who challenged me, expanded my perspective, and reminded me that I’m not in this alone.

That’s the heart behind this retreat.
I want to help you build a business that supports your life, art that reflects your perspective, and a images that speak to family legacies.

Hi, I'm Leah -
lifestyle family photographer, writer, & educator.

I’m  one of the first to meet your newborn baby, the one who won't judge your clothes baskets and unmade beds, and the one who can capture the way your husband looks at you with a twinkle in his eye after 12 years of marriage.  My life's work is about honoring people and telling stories.

I believe art has the power to light up the world in dark places, starting at home.

I'm a mom of 3 who loves mornings and words. I rely heavily on black coffee and a sense of humor.
