As a lifestyle family photographer, my gear list is minimal, but it still takes a host of tools and products to run my business well… and costs can add up.
That’s why it’s such a good opportunity to take advantage of Black Friday deals for family photographers on software, education, gear, etc that can help you reach the next-level version of the photographer you want to be.
Here’s a rundown of the products I’m shopping this season and a few suggestions of products I already use that are game-changing for my business.

Black Friday Deals for family photographers
1. A Dual Camera Harness
I started shooting with duel bodies for my family photography sessions about 2 years ago and will never go back! Sadly, my go-to strap broke last weekend and the small business I ordered if from is no longer making them – but this product is an essential for me. I’m excited to try out the Dual Harness from Coiro this year! They’re super reasonably priced and made sustainably with quality leather.
2. SD Cards
Boring but necessary. Did you know you should replace your SD cards every 2-3 years of regular use, or at the first sign of damage? Meaning any scratches, chips, etc from heavy lifting of being a family photographer. I’ve actually had a piece break off an SD card into my camera before and it was an expensive repair. So check your cards and update them regularly! B&H is a great, dependable company to find these!
3. *Sprout Studio
If you’re not using a CRM already, whether you’re new or have a bustling client base already, this will become your new best friend. Sprout has all the pieces to carry your client experience from inquiry to sales/delivery and has been a game changer for my business. But definitely do your research and sign up for a few trials first to get a feel for them. This software can be a large investment but is one of those that will pay for itself ten-fold. *Sign up with this link for 20% off an annual or monthly plan!
4. Space saver / Blogstomp
This is one of those tools that you didn’t know you needed till you have it. It’s a one time purchase/download of just $50 and you can use it forever and ever amen. It’s job is to optimize file size but not reduce image quality – so you can increase upload/download speeds for your galleries + quickly resize images for blogs and your website with a simple click. Gold.
5. Brevite bag
These camera bags are the best I’ve found in 10 years. I have the Jumper in Boulder tan. It’s sleek but still roomy enough for my 2 mirrorless bodies with lenses, backup cards and batteries, and an extra lens. Not to mention a perfect pouch that fits my laptop, charger, water bottle, etc so easily. Excellent quality AND they’re a mission-led organization dedicated to giving back and environmental responsibility. Winning all around.
6. *Artifact Uprising
This one’s not for your professional use, but for your personal memories, keepsakes and gifts. Don’t forget about your own precious moments this holiday and honoring the work you’ve made for your family and children by getting it in print. Use the code FIREFLYPHOTO15 at checkout for an extra 15% off anything (including holiday cards!).
7. Education
Education is another great place to put your investment dollars – courses from Creativelive, Clickin Moms, and many of your favorite photographers will have courses on sale for Black Friday.
I’m not offering any discounts on my mentoring because I believe services should stand behind purposeful rates – and that’s what I try to do, too. I’m refining my Workflow Launchpad course for 2024 and working a few other ideas for products to support family photographers on a smaller scale, but for now, I’d love to support you with deeper insight and direction through working together 1:1.
