Big moments get all the fun. 👎

There's a million moments that happen throughout a week that make up a life.

Dozens of intricacies that I could zoom in on and write novels about, that could make my eyes well or my nostalgia wretch.

They don't get memorialized or romanticized and that feels unfair to them because the big moments get all the fanfair.

Here's a few things from this week that didn't make it to a social feed or a camera roll or a stage or a magazine, that aren't the kind for bragging or for awarding, but stuck with me nonetheless.

The beam of light coming through the trees that made me stop and audibly gasp while packing lunches before school.

The divine carrot cake Kira and I baked and decorated for Mothers day.

The chairs, handmade by a man who is easily in his late 70's, who said he spent 6 months on and they're not quite done. I spent a morning in his finely tuned garage workshop this week shoot for a woodfinishing product brand and Matt stood in as the burly craftsman model, which felt both hysterical and really cool that he totally fit the part.

The drawings of sabertooth tigers scattered on the counter and my nightstand and the shoerack where the bookbags go thanks to Gavin's current obsession with the Ice Age. I had to break up a fight because he was scaring Aaron with his growling practice. Kids are so weirdly wonderful.

All the daily car to chest to couch nap transfers of The Little Toddler Who Wouldn't Nap Unless Forced By Vehicle Motion. The way his puffy cheeks get all rosy when he sleeps and that little snore that escapes his lips.

The eggs with red peppers and spinach, sourdough toast with butter, and bowl of yogurt with granola my kids wobbly brought up the stairs to deliver with pride to my bed on Mothers Day. How I didn't want peace and silence this year, but I asked for them to bring their breakfast, too, and sit on the bed with me and I loved every second.

The way a bunch of neighborhood kids and parents gathered around a box of donuts in the field across from my house on Saturday when I quickly organized a mini mock-school photo day to use for teaching inside my course. (This is due for a BIG update, holy smokes, get on that list).

Buying concert tickets for my birthday weekend with a group of friends I don't even know yet outside of one (hi, Lauren!) and how reviving it feels to be committing to friendship and music and fun again.

The way milk dribbles down Aaron's chin when he eats cereal.
The handsome flecks of gray in Matts beard and his green eyes on an overcast day.

Kira's cute, decorated run log she made to track her times for 1 mile runs with her dad.
Haircuts at the kitchen counter in pajama pants and bare chests with towels draped over tiny shoulders.

There are so many bits of life and work and work and life that weave together to make these days and I feel so impossibly that I don't want to share them.

And at the same time, I'm equally grateful that I get to share them.

Usually not in the moment, itself.

But little things become the big things when we speak them, say them, hold, them, capture them, and call them important.

We call little moments beautiful and it changes what beautiful means.

If I could say the last line as my job description and trust that people could find me on google that way, I would.

But if you want someone to come alongside you to see and capture the beautiful little things that make life feel rich, that's what I'm here for.

This client summed up what I'm now considering to be my “ideal client” as the biz bros say - the one who “never considered herself a family picture lady” but ended up with this response. 👇🏼 Reach out here to start the ball rolling on a session.

THINGS I SAVED THIS WEEK:
Not much, see above.

SOMETHING TO BAKE // The aforementioned carrot cake recipe. Minus the nuts and raisons. Added graham cracker crumbs to the sides. Not healthy. But delish.

A QUIZ // For the business owners, creators, and solo-preneurs - Tonic has a new quiz that gives some pretty interesting insight with actual specific moves at the end you can take to spice up your brand and online voice. You can take it here in prep for their new template releases coming later this month 😍
